YMCA Before and After School

Before & After School Care

Round out the school day with the Y!

Serving Children Ages 5-12

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region’s Before & After School Child Care program provides children with opportunities for growth and development outside of their school day through activities and adventures that are child-centered and fun!

Our program aims to improve confidence and leadership skills, as well as celebrate the uniqueness of each child. Daily activities will include a healthy snack, homework help, physical activities, and math or literacy skills. During each month, additional areas of focus will include STEM projects, global learning and inclusion, leadership development and wellness and nutrition. Please note that each school is unique and we will tailor our program to the needs of the children at that specific site, taking their interests into account along with their goals.

We provide a safe, encouraging environment that promotes positive self-esteem and image, life skills, teamwork, creativity and education support. The before school program opens at 6:00 a.m., or 6:30 a.m. based on the school site, and is in session until the school day begins. The after school program begins after school dismissal until 6:00 p.m. A late fee will incur for late pickups.

Other Offerings

The YMCA offers care for most school districts on the following days. You can register as a drop-in 24 hours in advance and attend any of these days.

School Out Days

On the weekdays your child is not in school, they are welcome to join us at a local YMCA branch! These days away from school will be filled with day-camp-like activities, crafts and maybe even a field trip or two. All schools are partnered with a specific YMCA branch that designates where you can attend. If you require attendance to a branch your school is not partnered with, special permission must be requested with 24 hours notice.

Early Release Days/Testing Days

When your child is released early from school, we will provide onsite care. This day-of care for our program will be an extension of our Before and After care program, including the components listed in the program description.

Snow Days

If your school has not been put on a delay or has not been canceled before 6:00 a.m. we will open for our Before School program. If the following situations occur, please follow the proper procedure. If you have any questions regarding closures, please contact your local Y.

  • If a school is on delayed start: The YMCA program will offer care at 8:30 a.m. The YMCA will open for After School Care at the regularly scheduled time and will close at 6:00 p.m.
  • If a school is canceled: The YMCA program will open at the designated YMCA Branch listed above from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • If a school is canceled while your child is in school: The YMCA program will not offer care.
  • Preschool at Conrad Early Learning Center: If the district cancels school, the preschool will close.
  • In any of the above situations, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel the program due to hazardous road conditions. Our main concern is for the safety of your children, your family, and our staff.
