YMCA Small Group Training

Small Group Training

Small Group Training at the YMCA takes all the elements of one-on-one Personal Training and puts them into application within a group of 2-5 individuals. This is a great way to rally your friends to get fit while still receiving individualized attention from a fitness professional, in addition to splitting the cost among the group!

Please note that not all courses are offered throughout the year or in every Family Center.

Burn Zone

Ready to change up your workout?  By using a heart monitor and getting to your "Y" Red Zone, your body has to work harder - burning more calories and fat - and boosts your metabolism for up to 36 hours!!  Great for people looking to lose weight and increase endurance and strength! All participants must have a heart rate monitor with chest strap and wrist monitor.

Pilates Reformer

DOWNTOWN YMCA
The Downtown Y offers the following Pilates Reformer classes:

  • Pilates Reformer: Designed to teach students how to safely use the Stott Reformer and to perform the basic Pilates Exercises. This class will focus on alignment, stability, control, and spinal mobility with overall progress in strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, endurance and familiarity of exercises.

GARDEN RANCH YMCA
The Garden Ranch Y offers a variety of Pilates classes to meet your needs, interests and abilities. Pilates is a form of exercise emphasizing whole body development through core strength, flexibility, and muscular strength. It is highly adaptable as well.

  • Intro: A class designed to teach students how to use the Stott Reformer and to safely perform the basic Pilates Exercises. Designed to teach safe use of the Pilates Reformer for brand new participants. This class is a prerequisite class for all other Reformer classes.
  • Essential: This class will focus on alignment, stability, control, and spinal mobility with overall progress in strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, endurance and familiarity of exercises. Participant focus will be to master proper alignment, stability and spinal mobility providing progress in the areas of strength, flexibility, coordination, balance and endurance.
  • Intro/Essential: This is a combination of Intro and Essential​.
  • Intermediate: Designed for those who seek to expand their knowledge with an emphasis on more advanced sequencing and tempo. This class builds on the foundation outlined in the Essential class. Designed for participants who have accomplished proficiency at the Essential level. Emphasis will be placed on more advanced sequencing and tempo.
  • Challenge: Designed for the participant who seeks new exercises and a deeper practice of the skills while reinforcing developmental principles. This class will challenge the posturing, strength, and coordination of each participant at the next level of Pilates. Participant focus will be to integrate and develop more advanced skills. Instructor referral is required.
  • Jump Board: This class will push students through intervals of the lower and upper body strength movements- incorporating flexibility, cardio, and core stability. The cardio intensity and strength building jumping maneuvers puts this class in a level of its own. Using the Jump Board, participants will use intervals of upper and lower body strength that will challenge the core and elevate heart rate.
  • Multi-Level: Participants will be challenged by Essential, Intermediate and/or Challenge level exercises.

YMCA_Pilates_Reformer_Class

Synergy 360

Synergy 360 is about more than just working out. This revolutionary concept provides limitless opportunities to train smarter, better, and more effectively. This class will be taught in a circuit format with a certified Personal Trainer!

Adult Swim - Master Style Swimming for All Levels

TRX

TRX at Briargate YMCA
Come workout in a way many have never done before. This class will use specially designed TRX straps and your own body weight to deliver the ultimate full-body workout. Have you seen people using these yellow and black straps and wondered what they were doing? Find out for yourself. This class will give you the results you want with a challenging workout! Price is per class.

TRX at Garden Ranch YMCA
This class utilizes band or suspension in combination with body weight to challenge participants to build core strength, stability, balance, coordination, and flexibility. The workout provides a variety of exercise, muscle isolation, and range of movement while maintaining the safety of body weight exercises.

Ready to take your fitness goals to the next level? Stuck in a rut and just don't know how to get out of it? Designed for individuals who have some experience in the weight room, this class will teach you new techniques in advancing your fitness level while exposing you to more complex equipment such as cable machines, kettlebells, medicine balls, Bosu balls and much more. These small group training sessions will allow you to achieve your goals under the individualized guidance of one of our Personal Trainers.
