Plan on making a splash at the Memorial Park Recreation Center pool for one of the most fun and accessible indoor pools in the region! Recently resurfaced and filled, this aquatic center was designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages. Our pool is open for free swim, swim lessons, lap swim, and other Y aquatics programs; from our high intensity, low impact cardio class, to our arthritis class, we have something for everyone! This amazing facility is also available after-hours to accommodate events such as:
- Corporate rentals
- Family reunions
- Birthday parties
- School functions
- Church functions
- Boy/Girl Scout events
The Memorial Park Recreation Center pool is open year-round (except holidays) and features:
- Indoor 25-yard pool
- Designated lap lanes
- Spiral Water slide with catch pool
- Children's swimming pool featuring a slide, fountains, and other fun activities
- Hot Tub
- A relaxing and fun bubble couch for the entire family
- Men's and Women's locker rooms with showers
- Family Changing room
- Children 6 and younger must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or adult 18 or older
- Children ages 7 to 10 must be accompanied by someone 16 years or older.
Healthy Living Center
If you're looking for a place to get a workout in while avoiding crowds, the Memorial Park Recreation's Fitness Center is the place for you. The minute you step into this hidden gem, you'll love the ample space and quick accessibility to the Paramount weight machines, free weights, treadmills, elliptical machines, and recumbent bikes. Our gym also has bands and medicine balls for training. Personal trainers are available Mon-Fri, from 8:00am- 11:00am. If you are new to our workout facility, ask our staff about our 'Commit to be Fit' program. This program is free to new members and will pair you with a YMCA staff member who will show you how to use our equipment. Our personal trainers are also available to design personalized training programs at an affordable rate. The Healthy Living Center is open to ages 14 and older.
Come one, come all! Silver Sneakers and Active Older Adult group exercise classes are offered at Memorial Park Recreation Center! These classes are a great way for seniors and active older adults to meet new friends while staying active. Choose from our classic Silver Sneakers classes that help increase muscular strength and increase movement; to our chair yoga group exercise class that introduces gentle, flowing movements, combined with simple meditative activities. Feel better, make friends, and thrive in Silver Sneakers at the YMCA!
Like any martial art properly taught and properly practiced, Taekwondo is a non-aggressive and ethical system of self-defense. Taekwondo is a great way to meet new friends and have positive life experiences. Taekwondo will teach you self-defense and self-confidence, while increasing your body strength, coordination, and balance.
Our Taekwondo instructor is Mr. Klay Kerns, a retired Naval Officer and current Defense employee. He has been studying Martial Arts for over 32 years. He has been teaching in Colorado Springs since 2009 after retiring from NORAD and USNORTHCOM. Mr. Kerns instructs, and also continues to be a student. He is a 2011 Colorado State Champion and a National level judge in Taekwondo. For your safety, he has an American Red Cross certification for Adult, Child and Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid.
